alexander stamatien, jr.
Alexander George Stamatien, Jr. (Al) died Friday, June 24, 2016. He was 59. Al was born May 27, 1957, in New Haven, Connecticut, and was a lifelong resident of West Haven. Taking after his father, he had a natural knack for using tools, being handy and good with circuitry. After graduating from West Haven High School in 1975, he pursued his passion and became an electrician for West Haven Electric Co. - where he worked his entire life. One of five children, he took pride in being a role model for his siblings and their children, and was a devoted husband. He was a fervent and active presence in their lives and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, particularly at their family lake house in Vermont. He loved nothing more than spending a sunny day fishing out on the lake. Al had an infectious personality and the ability to take over a room with his quick wit, booming laugh and storytelling. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his father, Alexander Stamatien from West Haven, CT; his brother, James Stamatien and wife, Benjawan, from West Haven, CT; three sisters, Kathleen Brochu and husband, Don, from Springfield, VT, Margaret Borelli and husband, Jay, from West Haven, CT, and Cindy Kelly and husband, Richard, from Londonderry, NH; seventeen nieces and nephews, and a great-niece and great-nephew. He is predeceased by his mother, Doreen Stamatien. Friends may attend his funeral on Wednesday at 10:30 from BEECHER & BENNETT - TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave, West Haven, with his Funeral Service to take place at 11:00 AM in the Church of the Holy Spirit, 28 Church St. West Haven. 3. It is with a heavy heart that I’m sending my condolences because I am unable to attend services. Al was more like a brother than a cousin. I am at a loss for words but I want my Uncle Al and cousins to know my heart is with them and someday we’ll all be together forever. God Bless and keep all of you…..MaryJean

  4. Dear Stamatien Family,

I was saddened to learn of Al’s passing. Unfortunately, I was unaware at the time to personally come to offer my condolences. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very sad and difficult time.
