Anthony Peter DeLio, II, 94, of Bonita Springs, Florida and a former longtime resident of Hamden and West Haven, Connecticut, died March 27, 2023. He was born June 29, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late David and Margaret (Mascali) DeLio. Anthony had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2010.
Anthony graduated in 1946 from Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps at the end of World War II and was stationed in Guam. He subsequently attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute where he studied aeronautical engineering and physics, before receiving a juris doctorate in law from George Washington University 1955. Anthony practiced intellectual property law in New Haven with the firm DeLio Peterson & Curcio well into his 80’s. He had the honor of arguing a case before the US Supreme Court in 1965.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Palmira Golf Club in Bonita Springs and New Haven Country Club in Hamden. Anthony was an active member of the Italian Cultural Society of Naples, and member of the Amity Club of New Haven, the latter for over 60 years. He loved the opera, enjoyed travel, playing pinochle with friends, skiing and food. He had a lifelong interest in health & nutrition, published several papers under the moniker “The Guru of Good Health,” and was always ready to provide advice to friends and family. Anthony attended St. William Catholic Church in Naples.
He is survived by his son, Anthony P. DeLio, III and his wife Laurie of Bonita Springs, FL and their two children, Matthew and Michael; his two daughters, Donna Maistros of Greensboro, NC and her two children, Brian and Amy, and Lois Cromwell and her husband, Larry of Greensboro, NC and their three daughters, Christina, Lisa, and Maria. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Stanziale who died in 1997, and his brother, David DeLio who died in 2010.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 10 a.m. in St. Paul VI Parish-St. Rita Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Italian Cultural Society of Naples, FL.

I always wonder what happened to this side of my family, my father was his brother David Delio. Hope all is well and sorry for your loss.
