Benjamin Lee Belancik, Sr., 69, of Meriden, loving husband of 50 years to Debra Tkacz Belancik, passed away on January 10, 2023 at Apple Rehab-Coccomo in Meriden. He was born in Meriden on December 2, 1953, a son of the late John and Olivia Stevens Belancik. Besides his wife Debra, he is survived by his daughter Tiffany Belancik, son Benjamin Belancik, Jr. and his wife Laura, granddaughters Gracie Rose and Anna Marie Belancik, brother-in-law Joseph Tkacz, Jr. and his wife Barbara, and nephews Joseph Tkacz, III and Brian Tkacz, as well as special dear friends Andrew and Debra Purchia, Dee Orzech, and Jeannette Farm, and a brother, John Belancik, Jr. Benjamin worked as a union training coordinator at Pratt & Whitney for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a proud and active member of The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodges, Meriden Elks, and Southington Lions Club. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Debra, especially to Disney in Florida, where they held season passes every year. Ben’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Apple Rehab-Coccomo, and Dr. Lele and his staff at Medical Oncology at Midstate for their compassion and care for Ben.
Friends are invited to visit with Ben’s family on Friday, January 13th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A service celebrating his life will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, January 14th at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

  2. Ben was like a brother! He was my training counterpart at Pratt and never met anyone so caring and protective of his Union family. Always looking out for their best interest.   5. My heart is broken . I lost the love of my life on Tuesday January 10, we were married for 50.years. We were high school sweet hearts. My candle stopped flickering when my true love passed away. There will never be another true Love. Ben was funny, gentle , loving and kind. He loved his family especially his granddaughters Gracie and Anna.
    The angels are waiting for him at heavens door .

  7. Dear Deb and Family- I first knew Ben as an Union Coordinator. I was Pratt & Whitney Quality Management in North Haven and East Hartford. Ben always dressed in Hawaiian shirt and shorts year round and met regularly to assure workers were receiving the appropriate training for hourly employees. He was firm but fair. We became good friends through the years even thru retirement . Ben we be missed. Praying for comfort, peace and strength. Hugs. ❤️🙏🏻

  11. Ben liked to play “The Grump” but he was too sweet to actually pull it off. Debbie and Ben were always an inspiration as a loving couple after many years of marriage. The members of our Union will always be grateful to Ben and Debbie for years of service to the welfare of their co-workers. Ben was always a mainstay of running gags at the CT State Council of Machinists conferences, including a continual hunt for lima beans.
    Debbie — I know this will be hard on you and the kids. But I’ve found the sadness is so strong because the time together, and the memories of those times, are so sweet.
