MERIDEN - Caroline W. Powers, a longtime resident of Meriden, died Monday, November 19, 2007, after a long illness. She was 89. Born May 27, 1918 in New York City, she later settled in Meriden, where she worked for several area businesses. Athletic in her early years, she took up bowling as an adult and won several trophies in league competition. A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. Caroline is survived by four children, Lynn Bourcier, Judith Bulmer, Kenneth Bartulis and Carol Nelligan, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was cared for in her final years by her loving daughters, Lynn and Carol. After a private graveside ceremony, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in Caroline's memory may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450, or to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington, CT 06037. Arrangements are under the direction of the BEECHER & BENNETT-FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

  1. I was so very sorry to read of Caroline’s passing–she was an incredible woman. She was a temp for Manpower when I worked in their office and then was a student of mine through Meriden Adult Ed. She always had a few minutes to talk and to listen no matter how much was going on in her life. I was quite surprised to learn that she was almost 90!
