Chesire - Dorothy Kate Barrett Wolff, 94, of Cook Hill Road died February 7th at Midstate Medical Center. Formerly of Hamden, she was the wife of the late Karl H. Wolff; mother of Adele W. Bassett of Media, PA and Douglas B. Wolff of Holderness, NH; sister of the late Vera Barrett of Brattleboro, VT, and grandmother of Graham Bassett, and Sarah and Kevin Wolff. Dorothy was predeceased by sisters Marion Barrett Nye, Edith Barrett Graham, and Eva Barrett, and a brother Warren Barrett. Dorothy was born in Thetford, VT, Aug. 31, 1913 to the late Closson and Flora McLeod Barrett. A graduate of Castleton State Teacher's College, she began her teaching career in Peacham, VT. During WW II, she served in the US Navy as an air traffic control operator. She later worked at the New Haven Cooperative Education Center, ProDisco for SNET, and at Rollins College Library in Winter Park, Florida. In 1994, she moved to Elim Park where she became a billiards player, bell ringer, and volunteer for many activities. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 21, 2008 11:00 am at the family plot in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hamden. Arrangements are in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
