In New Haven, August 20, 2007, Edmund W. Staley, Sr., husband of Gloria Peck Staley of 94 South St., West Haven, CT. Father and father-in-law of Michael T. and Darlene Staley of Jupiter, FL. Survived also by 3 grandchildren, Justin, Jared and Michaela, 4 great-grandchildren, Aurora, Noah Edmund, Jared and Vada and a brother Roger Staley all in FL. He was predeceased by a son, Edmund Jr. and a daughter Beth Holly Staley and 2 brothers George Staley, Jr. and Frederick Staley. He was born in New Haven, CT, Oct. 1, 1924 son of the late George H. Sr. and Gladys Hynds Staley. He served with the 15th USAAF in Italy during WW II as a flight engineer-gunner on a B-24 bomber with the rank of technical sergeant and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a member of Ansantawae Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M. in Milford, American Ex-Prisoners of War, American Legion Post # 42 in Stratford and the DAV and VFW in West Haven also was a member of the former St. John by the Sea Church of West Haven which is now the Church of the Holy Spirit in West Haven. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a master wood patternmaker at Wire Machinery Corp. of America in New Haven for 43 years and Plastic Tool Systems, Inc. in Milford. Funeral service Friday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven. Friends may call Thurs. from 4 - 8 p.m. Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 28 Church St., West Haven, CT 06516 or to the Masonic Charity Foundation, PO Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.

I will miss my Uncle and the emails that kept us in touch over the years. We love you Aunt Gloria and will continue to stay in contact across the miles. Your faith has always given me faith.   13. Time flys. UConn is ranked 16th in mens basketball. 14 in the power listings. Girls are 2nd, with their two main players out. Miss you.

  14. We have been close to the Staley family for years. Ed tutored me when I became a Lodge brother. He was a classmate of Polly’s. He and Gloria are special people and our hearts go out to the family at this time.

  15. You have been gone one year. It has been difficult. Really miss having you around. Miss the fun we had.
