Edward James Gorecki of Hamden passed away on April 19, 2022. He was born on December 9, 1952 to Emily and John Gorecki in New Haven, CT.

Ed was a lover of the outdoors, living an active lifestyle and was an avid organic vegetable and flower gardener. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and was a lifelong musician, composing and performing his own music. For the last fifteen years Ed was a handyman and helper to the elderly. His final act of giving was organ and tissue donation through the non-profit New England Donor Services.

Ed is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Betsy (Dabakis) Gorecki. Together they enjoyed daily walks, weekend day trips, peaceful hours on the screened porch, and a love of the beach. He is also survived by his cherished daughters and sons-in-law Melissa Lundquist (Erik) and Emily Gorecki (Charlie Frattini), brother Paul Gorecki (Carol), sister-in-law Cathy Dabakis and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. And not to be forgotten were his grand-pups, who fondly knew him as “Man-Dog.”

A celebration of life will be hosted at Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home in Hamden, CT on Saturday April 23, 2022 from 2 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the GoFundMe account for continued support for Ed’s son-in-law, Charlie Frattini: https://www.gofundme.com/f/charlie-frattini-needs-your-help

  11. Ed was my elementary school classmate for 9 years, from kindergarten to 8th grade, at St. Stanislaus School on State St. in New Haven. and the Gorecki family lived on the street next to mine, so we always did things together, his parents and my parents were good friends also. Since 2007 we are living within a 1/4 mile of him in Hamden. I am sad that my friend has left the earth, when I leave it I hope to see him again.

  12. Betsy, Emily and family. Sending thoughts and condolences from the Baltayan family. May the many memories of all good times comfort you during this time.

  13. Dear Emily, My cousin Carol has spoken kindly about Edward through the years. Sending ✌️ ☮️ peace and love from Colorado. ❤️

  14. Betsy-My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.
