Elizabeth Weathers, most affectionately known as “Mama,” 82, of Meriden, loving wife of the late Phillip Weathers, passed away at Aaron Manor in Chester, CT on February 1, 2023. She was born in Darlington, SC on November 9, 1940, daughter of the late James and Calperta McPhail Williams. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Williams (Wayne), Sylvia Weathers, and Dorothy Simmons (Rico); son, Jerome Weathers (Candace); sisters, Lula Mae Thomas and Mammie Louis Robinson; brother, Thomas Williams; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Elease Evans, Vone Gilmore, Lottie Mae Williams, and Michelle Boyd; brother-in-law Leanard Weathers; goddaughter Magaly Galicia (Elvin); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family; and grandson Thumper the dog. She will also be missed by her life-long friends Ella Dargan, Alberta Joco, and Bernice Lucas. In addition to her husband Phillip, she was predeceased by her son Phillip Lee Weathers; her beloved aunt Elizabeth Coe; and siblings, James Williams Jr., Gertha Mae Cooks, and Lawrence Williams. Elizabeth loved traveling, line dancing, music, and fashion and was well-known for being the neighborhood mom. Her love, humor and laugh were contagious and pure.
Friends are invited to visit with Elizabeth’s family on Wednesday, February 8th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 12:00 noon at Hines Funeral Home, 833 S. 6th St., Hartsville, SC. Friends may visit with her family from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon before the service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
