Ellen Mulhern Sands

Ellen (Mulhern) Sands, age 65, of North Branford passed away on August 3, 2023. Ellen was the widow of Garry Sands. Born in New Haven on November 2, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Hugh E. Mulhern, Sr., Ret. Chief, HPD and Nora (McGrath) Mulhern. Ellen is survived by her sons, Dana and his wife Cristina Sands of North Branford and Garrett Sands of Deep River; grandson, Douglas Sands; brother, Robert Mulhern, Ret. Police Chief and his wife Ruth of Wallingford, and several nieces and nephews. Ellen was predeceased by her sister, Mary Garrison, and brothers, Hugh Jr., Dennis and Brian Mulhern. A resident of Hamden most of her life, she was employed by Stop & Shop Stores for over 30 years.
Friends may visit with her family on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. During this time, her prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
