Ernest George Godwin South Meriden - Ernest George Godwin, 86, formerly of 77 Cutlery Ave. died Friday, March 22 at the Masonic Geriatric Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Crouse Godwin. He was born in Meriden, May 2, 1915, a son of the late George Wallace and Eva Potter Godwin. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked as a salesman for Devella Motors, was a member of Hancock Lodge I.O.O.F. Odd Fellows, the Meridian Lodge # 77 A.F. & A.M. Masons and the South Meriden Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meriden. He is survived by his adored family, his daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Bruce Farmsworth, Jr. of South Meriden, his granddaughter and her husband, Tammy and Timothy Alcutt Sr. of Meriden, a grandson and his wife Bruce and Candie Farnsworth, Jr. of Meriden and four great-grandchildren, Randi Alcutt, Timothy Alcutt, Jr., Samantha Farnsworth and Andrew Farnsworth all of Meriden. He was predeceased by his second wife, Louise Bender. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 27 at the First Baptist Church, 460 Broad St., Meriden at 11 a.m. The Rev. Robert Prescott-Ezickson will officiate. Burial at Walunt Grove will be a the convenience of the family. BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden in care of arrangements.
