Wallingford- Ernest William Rennie, 89, husband of Dorothy Schildbach Rennie passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2001 in the Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center after a brief illness. He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland April 30, 1911 a son of the late George and Margaret Moir Rennie and had lived in West Haven for many years before moving to Florida in 1971 and later to Wallingford in 1990. Mr. Rennie was a Detective with the West Haven Police Department for 20 years before retiring in 1971. He was a founder and the first President of the West Haven Police Union, a member of the West Haven Police Benevolent Assoc., a member of Annawon Lodge # 115 A.F. & A. M. of West Haven, a 32nd degree Mason and a Chantor at the Sphinx Temple of Newington. Mr. Rennie was a former member of the First Lutheran Church of West Haven. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons and their wives, Carl W. and Loretta Rennie of Hamden, Ernest G. and Joyce Rennie of Northford, a sister Dorothy Fordyce of Hanover, MA, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Wendell, Colin, and George E. Rennie. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden Sunday, March 25 from 5-8 PM. A Prayer service officiated by Rev. Owen J. Sanderson will be at 7 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O.
