Esther Dill Stickle, age 100, wife of 71 years to the late Oakleigh R. Stickle, of North Haven, passed away at her home on October 6, 2017. She was born in New Haven on June 4, 1917 to the late Richard and Grace Elliott Dill. She is survived by her nieces; Leslie Dengler (Rob), Diane Farley, Linda Schroeder (John), and Ellen Berson (Michael), nephews; Richard Stickle and James Dill, and great-niece Michelle Dengler. She is predeceased by her sisters, Muriel Stickle and Vera Gesner, and brother, Richard Dill. Esther worked for the Olin Corporation as an Executive Secretary for 45 years retiring in 1981. She was a longtime member of Hamden Plains United Methodist Church. Esther and her husband "Oak" enjoyed dancing together and traveling the world, especially to the Caribbean and Cape Cod. A funeral service celebrating Esther's life will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at 10:30am in BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may visit with her family from 9:30am-10:30am prior to the service. Interment will be held in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
