Flaretta Felton Pennyman, 87, of Meriden, CT, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital. The daughter of the late Eula and Roosevelt Felton of North Carolina, Flaretta leaves behind her sons Eddie (Zenia), Victor, Matthew, and Richard Pennyman, daughters Lisa Pennyman Shider, Bridgette Pennyman and Mary Caldwell; her brother Roosevelt Felton; sister Eula Lucindy Monk of North Carolina; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her children Celestine Pennyman Fluker, Melinda Pennyman Gonzales, and Dean Pennyman, her brothers Joseph, Napoleon, and Glenn Felton Sr., and sister Agnes Robinson. Flaretta was loving, caring, and always ready to help someone in need, especially her family. She was extremely hardworking, having worked at International Silver and Westvaco while owning her own cleaning business, which would be her final occupation. She loved spending time with her family. She also loved fishing, cooking, and she was known for her fried chicken and stuffing, among many other dishes. In high school she loved basketball. Her greatest joy was being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, having been Baptized on April 11, 1976. She loved to talk about her loving God Jehovah and the Kingdom Hope where there would be no more sickness or death, and the hope of the Resurrection grounded her to face many of life’s challenges. She will be missed by so many.
A memorial talk will be given on March 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 1480 North Colony Rd., Meriden, CT. Friends are invited to share their wonderful memories of Flaretta from 1:00-2:00 p.m. before the service.
