G. Bruce Munro, 88, of New Haven, husband of Lynda B. Munro, passed away at their home on September 9, 2023. Born in New Haven on December 22, 1934, he was the son of the late L. Gregory and Alta (Warren Fuller) Munro. In addition to his wife Lynda, he is also survived by his children, J. Angus Munro of Montpelier, VT, Heather L. Munro of London, England, and Sarah Munro of Montpelier, VT; five grandchildren, a great-grandson, nieces and nephews: Gregory M. Lander of Saugus, MA, Kirby Lander of England, Todd Lander of Mohave Desert, and Amy L. Annable of Merrimac, NH and a passel of loving great and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Kirby Munro Lander. Bruce was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and The Gunnery in Washington, CT. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and went on to earn his Master’s degree in counselling from SCSU. A gifted craftsman, Bruce enjoyed his work as a cabinet maker. He had a generous spirit with an extraordinary sense of humor, someone who truly cared about the natural world and always strived to make it a better place. Above all else, Bruce was a man who lived well, loved well, and gave his light to every person he met.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. in Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. Burial will follow in Carrington Cemetery, Bethany. The family kindly requests that if you are experiencing symptoms of any type of illness that you please refrain from attending Bruce’s service, but appreciate your keeping them in your thoughts and well-wishes. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bruce’s memory may be made to Mr. Gunn’s School (The Gunnery), 99 Green Hill Road, Washington, CT 06793, or given online at www.frederickgunn.org.

  1. I am sorry to hear of the loss of someone my brother an I grew up knowing as our Uncle Brucey. He was a true friend to my parents let alone my father. I hold alot of wonderful memories of who was a part of my family. Bruce as well as Lynda and the rest of the clan are in my prayers and thoughts. He will certainly be missed. My heart goes out to you all.
