Meriden/Southington- Gertrude M. Orlando, 89, wife of 70 years to Joseph A. Orlando, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Curtis Home. She was born January 2, 1918 in Meriden a daughter of the late Howard W. and Gertrude (Deubel) Britney. She had been employed over the years for Woolworth's, Kresge's, International Silver, Pratt & Whitney and as head clerk in the Lingerie Dept. at G.Fox & Co.. Gertrude loved bingo, camping and traveling; living six months in Hobe Sound, Florida and six months at her home in Southington. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. The Orlando family would like to express their sincere thanks to Marge Keith for her loving support, thoughtfulness and care of their mother over the past few years. Besides her husband, Joseph she is survived by a daughter, Donna Tomilonus of Southington, a son Robert and his wife, Caroline Orlando of Southington; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Richard and Linnea Orlando, Thomas Orlando, Michelle and Theodore Kenyon, Denise and Paul Dittrich, Michael and Dore Tomilonus, Anna Marie Torcellini and Adria and Bob Liedke and nine great-grandchildren, Tina and Daniel Orlando, Deanna, Matthew and Megan Dittrich, Aiyana and Clayton Cyr, Emily Tomilonus and Christopher Lombardo, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Allison and Esther Blackburn and one brother, Howard Britney. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 7 at 11:00AM at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden . Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice at Franciscan Home Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, Ct 06451.
