Helen Dorothy Forselius, 90, of Cheshire, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at CT Hospice. She was born in Hamden on May 21, 1917, daughter of Hans and Annine Nicolaisen Iversen, and became the wife of the late Charles Forselius. Helen was an extraordinary woman who was dedicated to her family and only saw the good in people. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She is known for her beautiful drawings and baking chocolate chip cookies and Danish pastry. She had a beautiful smile, sparkling blue eyes and dimples. She leaves behind a daughter Gail (John) Lewis of Cheshire, sons Leonard (Maureen) Forselius of Hamden and John Forselius of North Haven, daughter-in-law Donna Forselius of Madison, 16 grand-children, 26 great-grandchildren, sisters Evelyn Ahlberg and Ruth Weise, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Forselius and brothers Arthur, Harry and Paul Iversen. The family would like to thank Dr. Christine Chen and Lindsey Shedd of YNHH for their care and concern given to Helen and her family. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN, Friday at 9 a.m. with a Graveside Service held at Beaverdale Memorial Park at 10 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at Spring Glen Church, corner of Whitney Ave. and Glen Parkway, at 11 a.m. Friends may call Thursday (TODAY)at the funeral home from 4-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

  1. Helen had a warmth of spirit and genuine interest in others that made everyone feel loved. I have very fond memories of her from childhood on throughout my life. I have always enjoyed time spent with her. She will be sorely missed.

  5. To Gail, Lenny & Johnny…….Jane & I were SO sorry to hear of your moms passing. We lost my dad at Hospice in Branford a week earlier. They BOTH lived to be 91 and I pray we ALL can get that much out of life! She DID make the B E S T chocolate-chip cookies and she was like a second MOM to me. I don’t get the Hamden paper and was also stunned to read of your brother Charlies death. I’ll ALWAYS remember BOTH of their SMILES, Chucks PASSION for MINT automobiles and Mom calling me & Johnny in from playing .little-cars. (matchboxes) under the apple tree for some peanut-butter sandwiches. She was the BEST! PLEASE John, keep-in-touch, we need each-other now more than ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
