MERIDEN - Irene Thibeau Hayward, beloved wife of the late Charles Hayward, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. Irene was born in St. Stephens, New Brunswick, Canada on July 23, 1934. She later moved to Meriden where she lived for the past 52 years. She was employed as a devoted housekeeper at Gaylord Hospital, retiring in 2002. She is survived by three daughters, Janet and her husband, Michael Scozzari, Sr. of Meriden, Suzie Dubay of Maine and Debbie and her husband, Rick Algeri of Texas; two sons, Andrew Hayward and his wife, Patty who was very special to her mother-in-law and Brian Hayward with whom she lived for the past six years. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Steven Hayward, Scott Hayward and his wife, Michelle and Kristy Lee Hayward, all of Meriden, Raelene, Kristy, Misty and Jimmy Scozzari, Angie and her husband, Bill Butler, Shaleen and Jeremy Dubay, all of Maine and seven great-grandchildren. She is also leaves four sisters and one brother, all in Canada, one sister in Maine and a brother, John McIver in Connecticut. She was predeceased by one grandson, Michael Scozzari, Jr. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A graveside service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
