James Patrick Reidy, 56, beloved husband of Karen Walsh Reidy of Northford passed away October 5, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Hartford June 10, 1961, a son of Barbara P. Reidy of Winsted, CT and the late Joseph Carey Reidy, MD. Loving father of Bridget Reidy of NYC, Clare Reidy of Boston, John Reidy, and Deirdre Reidy, both of Northford. Brother of MaryLynn (Brian) Murphy of Naples, FL, Ellen (Doug) Reidy of Shelburne, VT, Clare Buerk of Colchester, CT, John (Sue) Reidy of Winsted, CT, Janet Reidy of Harwinton, CT, Rosemary (Walt) St. Onge of Bedford, MA, and Robert (Victoria) Reidy of Winsted, CT, and the late Joseph Reidy. Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He grew up in Winsted, graduated from Wake Forest University in 1983, and was a Managing Director at AON in NYC. Jim served as a board member of both Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden and Xavier H.S. in Middletown. He was a past President of the St. Monica's Church Parish Council and a member of the New Haven Country Club. Jim was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed traveling with his family, playing golf with his wife, reading, gardening, and cooking. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden Tuesday morning, Oct. 10 at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at St. Monica Church, Middletown Ave., Northford. Internment will be private. Friends may visit with his family Monday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to Sacred Heart Academy, 265 Benham St., Hamden, CT 06514 or to Xavier H.S., 181 Randolph Rd., Middletown, CT 06457.

  1. Dear Karen, Bridget, Clare, John and Deirdre, Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for you on the passing of your dear husband and father. Comforting words will not ease your pain yet perhaps the prayers, thoughtful gestures and ,most of all family and friends will aid your grieving. Jim was a big man in so many ways. His Christian actions throughout his life bear that in his faith, family and everyday life. May God send his grace and mercy down on the Reidy family.   4. I don’t really know what to say. . . but Mr. Reidy was the best BLOHARD around. Holidays just won’t be the same without his thoughtful and caring conversation and perfectly roasted dinners. I have always considered myself lucky to have the Reidy’s as neighbors and in my life and always especially admired guided your family with such love, compassion, care, intelligence, humor and strong, pragmatic values. I am sad I could not be with you today, but was able to make a potato salad sandwich for lunch.

  6. My name is Laetitia Nakaar, my husband, Val Nakaar. Our daughter Ruth Nakaar went to Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden with your daughter Clare who resides in Boston. Ruth stayed with Clare last week when she was visiting schools in the Boston area. We were so saddened when Ruth told us Clare lost her dear father the day after she left Boston. To the Reidy family, we send our deepest condolences Our thoughts and endless prayers out to you at this difficult time. May the Lord receive your gentle soul, Mr. Reidy, into His Bosom. Rest in peace.

  7. Reidy family, I’ve never met you , but my husband , Steve Schrohe , went to Wake Forest with Jim or -Reidy- as Steve usually called him. We were married in 1985 and Jim was in our wedding. I remember him as being very handsome and so nice. Steve would tell stories from college days and they almost always included-Reidy-!Steve and I were so sorry to hear of Jim’s sudden passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family . A wonderful friend taken too soon and will always be remembered fondly.
