Janice E. Houde, 62, of Hamden, passed away at CT Hospice on October 11, 2010 with her devoted family by her side. She was born in New Haven on April 26, 1948 to the late Julius and Rosemary Anderson Toth. Janice is survived by her three children and their spouses, Edward Jr. and Lisa Houde of North Haven, Christopher and Rachel Houde of East Granby and Megan and Michael Karcher of Glens Falls, NY; brother, Douglas Toth of Hamden; sister Elaine Reitmeyer and her husband Thomas of Huntington; grandchildren, Ashlie, Lauren, Daniel, and Jason Houde; aunt, Elsie O'Connell of Hamden. Janice was raised in Hamden until moving to West Haven where she lived for over 30 years. Ten years ago she happily moved back to Hamden. She worked for AT&T for 14 years and was an active member with the Union Local 1298 CWA. She volunteered her time with an anonymous Fellowship which was close to her heart. Now a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, she had been a Member and lector for over 30 years at Our Lady of Victory. Janice and her family are grateful to the nurses and staff at the Father McGivney Cancer Center and the CT Hospice. As Janice would say 'Keep the Faith'. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Thursday, October 14th at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 a.m. Followed by burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Janice may be sent to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.

  25. We could not attend memorial for Janice, but she was surely in our thoughts. We are so sorry for the family and hope all are well. We didn’t see Janice or her family often but she was a part of our early memories in our first home.

    I miss you and love you sooo much! We made alot of special memories together..sometimes we’d laugh til our stomachs hurt! Ahhhh those were the days!Oh how I wish you were here.I dont even know who to vote for and I need your help desperately on that subject! I can just hear you giving me a synopsis on each candidate. You were such a smart woman you knew a little about everything.Your opinion was always valued by me. You were my Counselaire for many things–especially Union .stuff.. You were my .Go To Girl.. So many times you’d be there for me if I had an issue at work–you definitely knew your Union Book inside and out..You were one tough cookie!!You helped alot of people and I KNOW you are SORELY missed.. Until we meet up again My Sista….know that I love and miss you .
