Jessie Napier Doolittle

Jessie Napier Doolittle, 92, wife of the late Clifford A. Doolittle, died Jan. 12, 2006 at the Masonic Hospice Hospital in Wallingford, CT. Mrs. Doolittle was born April 30, 1913 on Staten Island, NY to the late Alexander and Annie Wood Napier. Survived by daughter Gayle A. O'Donnell and her husband William of Northford, CT, son James A. Doolittle and his wife Judith of Folsom, PA, grandchildren James E. Doolittle and his wife Nadine of Philadelphia, PA, Kimberly R. Spear and her husband Lance of Summerville, SC, Mary E. Doolittle of Evanston, IL and Katherine V. Doolittle of Folsom, PA and her valued and trusted aid at Larson Place, Janet Asamoah. She was predeceased by brothers James, David, and Alexander Napier and sisters Margaret Taylor and Helen Jayne. She lived most recently in Wallingford and prior to that in the Mt. Carmel section of Hamden. She retired from Hamden High School where she was a secretary in the main office. Prior to that she worked at Sears in Hamden. Relatives and friends may call Sun., Jan. 15 from 4-7 PM. Funeral service from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden at 10:30 AM on Mon., Jan. 16 with burial at Mt Carmel Cemetery immediately following.

Mrs. Doolittle’s distinct voice on the intercom at Hamden High was heard by tens of thousands of students. She was well respected and liked by all and is etched in the memories of many.
