John Augustus Copeland, Sr.

Copeland, Sr. 85, of Masonic Home, Wallingford, formerly of Cheshire and Hamden, husband of the late Marion Read Copeland and his second wife Dorothy Kennedy Copeland. Father of John A. Copeland, Jr. of W. Kingston, RI and David R. Copeland, of Hampstead, NH, brother of Willis E. Copeland, Betty Christman both of Wallingford, Barbara Stark of Clarks Summit, PA, Flora Vendetti of Peabody, MA, Raymond Copeland of Hamden, William E. Copeland of Galt, CA, Harry Copeland of San Francisco,CA and the late Marion Colburn, Clarence, Charles and Helen Copeland. Grandfather of Kelly Renaud, of Lancaster, NH, Tracy Copeland of East Orland, ME and Shelby Evens of Bow, NH. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. He was born in Waterford, CT, Jan. 28, 1916 a son of the late William and Helen Miner Copeland, he was a train dispatcher for the New Haven and the Penn Central Railroads. He was a 52 year member of Day Spring Lodge # 30 A.F. & A.M. and a member of th Coast Guard Aux. Funeral service will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday, April 13 at 11 A.M. Friends may call Thursday (TODAY) from 4-8 p.m. Masonic Service by Day Spring Lodge at 7 p.m. Burial in Whitneyville Cemetery, Hamden.
