John Cameron Menzies, Jr., age 91, of Branford, died on September 25, 2011 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Margaret Wells Mendillo Menzies for sixty-five years. Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons John Cameron Menzies III of Branford and Donald R. Menzies and his wife Dana Tabor Menzies of Woodbridge. He was grandfather to Margaret Menzies Gonzalez, Bethany Menzies Cotnoir and Grace Cameron Menzies Glendinning; and great-grandfather to Abel James Cotnoir and Ian Cameron Cotnoir. Mr. Menzies graduated from the Manlius School of New York with the commission of second Lieutenant: US Army. He attended Trinity College and entered active duty in 1942. He served in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign where he received a battlefield promotion, and ended his military duty with the rank of Major. Mr. Menzies was a member of Hiram Lodge #1, A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite, Valley of New Haven. Private funeral arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
