John H. Dempsey

In Branford, March 16, 2001, John Hudson Dempsey, husband of Muriel Clarkson Dempsey of 90 Concord St. Hamden. Father of Dr Lois Hinman of Sleepy Hollow, NY., Robert J. Dempsey of Trumbull and Joan Herr of Bloomington, IN. Also survived by 10 grandchildren. Predeceased by a sister Miriam Bewley. Mr Dempsey was born in New Haven, son of the late Matthew and Susanna Farthing Dempsey.He was Vice President of the former First Bank of New Haven where he was employed for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1984. Mr Dempsey served in five campaigns as a medical technician, in the U.S. Army in Europe, during World War II. He was a resident of Hamden for many years, and was a member of the Hamden Square Dance Club and the Hamden Fathers Baseball Association. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Monday, March 19th from 4-8pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
