Kenneth M. Seekins, 92, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2011. Kenneth was born in Portland, Maine on May 4, 1919 to the late Gilbert and Alice Page Seekins and had been a long time resident of Bangor, Maine. He moved his family to New Haven in 1957 where he was a longtime resident before moving to Hamden, Wallingford, and Meriden. Kenneth was a member of the Maine Home Guard during WWII, worked as an optical technician, and was a past president of the Wallingford Eagles Aerie #1820. Kenneth was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Evelyn, and a son, Kenneth Jr. He is survived by his son Ronald Seekins and wife Kathlyn, two grand children and two great grand children of Sarasota, FL, and his son Clayton Seekins and wife Jane of Wallingford. Kenneth was a devoted husband, loving father, and 'Poppie' to all around him. He was an avid fisherman all his life and enjoyed fishing the fresh water lakes of Maine most of all. Kenneth also became an eager saltwater fisherman in CT and loved fishing from the shore at Hammonasset Beach. BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden is in charge of the private funeral arraignments. Kenneth will be interned in Portland, ME. His family wishes to thank all his friends and those who cared for him from both Connecticut Baptist Home (he will miss the entire staff especially his BINGO partners, recreation and PT teams) and the staff at Masonic Hospice Care Center. Donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Ave, Norwalk, CT 06854 or call 1-800-227-2345. A last Great Goodbye to all, 'GONE FISHIN', Ken.

  1. It is with heartfelt sympathy that I respond to the passing of dear Ken. The first time I met him you could see his kind heart. I loved the Gone Fishing sign on his door at the CT Baptist Home. He was lucky to have such a loving family. My mother, Edith Tobin and I send our condolences to all the family, especially Jane, who has been an inspiration to me. God bless you all.
