He was employed for the past thirty-one years at Moran Yacht and Ship in Fort Lauderdale, FL. His job afforded him the opportunity to travel the world, where Kevin was well respected in the marine industry.
Kevin was born March 21, 1957, in New Haven, CT, and was a long-time resident of Hamden before moving to Florida. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming at the High Lane Club, vacationing in Wellfleet on Cape Cod, and learning about all makes of cars. He attended Saint Rita Grammar School and was a parishioner of Saint Rita Church, where he served as an altar boy. Kevin was a member of the Hamden High School class of 1975, where he was active in sports. He went on to graduate from Paul Smith College in upstate New York with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He then traveled to the Virgin Islands, where he worked at Maho Bay on St. John and also on St. Thomas. The opportunity to work with cars brought him back to CT, where he worked in sales for several years at Crest Lincoln Mercury.
Kevin loved being on the water boating and fishing, along with playing golf and skiing in Bretton Woods. He was passionate about youth sports and particularly enjoyed watching his boys play hockey and lacrosse. He rarely missed the opportunity to attend games at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, NH, and later at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT.
He is survived by his former wife, Lisa, and their four sons, Jack, Nolan, Timothy and Peter Callahan. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Mike) Johnston and his brothers, Francis III “Skip” (Kate) and Robert (Gretchen) Callahan, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Francis H. Callahan, Jr. and Eileen Coyle Callahan.
Kevin will be remembered as a kind, generous, spirited, engaging, and loving man who left a lasting impression on all he met. Fair winds and following seas KPC, until we meet again.

Kevin was a giant among men highly loved and respected by all who knew him.The yachting world is shocked by the loss of Kevin so suddenly. Kevin was a remarkable father to his four remarkable sons. Whenever I was with Kevin he would proudly tell me what the boys where up to in their careers. Kevin was the ultimate professional as a yacht broker. We will all miss him greatly but will never forget him, Pat Carney

My condolences to Kevin’s family. He was a wonderful guy.
Words can’t describe what a great guy Kevin was. He and my brother Rob were great friends..I am so happy I was able to spend time with him recently…we always reminisce about the fun times we had and laugh like it just happened. He always talked about his boys….he was such a proud father. I will cherish all the memories. I will miss him.
With heartfelt sympathy to his family.
Rest in peace Kevin.
RIP Kevin
Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear of Kevin’s passing/crossing over. Kevin is a good man. I had the privilege to serve under he, Robert Moran, and Captain McLean at Moran Yacht & Ship, along with Kevin’s nephew Chris. Kevin was ever the mentor and always available to teach me the ropes. His smile warmed every day and his presence made you want to be a better man. More than that, I always will remember how much he loved his family: his beloved Lisa and 4 sons. I will never forget their Land Rover driving thru town with the 4CSONS license plate. (Callahan boys: I know your Dad loves you. This is really hard [I cannot imagine]…You all are the real deal, and you all have what it takes.) My heart sank when I heard of your passing, dear Brother. Fair Winds and Following Seas. Praying for you and your family. Isaiah 43:18-19. In Christ, John R. Pughe
To Kevin’s family, God Bless You All, and
My sincerest condolences! The marine industry has lost a consummate pro, but it pales in comparison to the loss you must all be feeling. From one CT boy to another, Rest in Peace Kevin, you will be missed.
So sorry to hear about your loss. I first worked with Kevin in the late 1990’s. He was always very kind and professional and he offered help and advice whenever needed. Even though we did not see each other much due to the nature of the yachting business, I always considered him a friend.
Best Wishes!
