Meriden - Mabel G. Kokoszka, 78, wife of the late Frank Kokoszka passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11 at MidState Medical Center. She was born April 12, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY a daughter of the late Alexander Ellstrom and Frances Glassnapp. Shortly afterward she moved to Meriden where she lived the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Meriden High School, a member of St. Joseph Church and an avid duck pin bowler, where she met her husband. She loved all animals, had several dogs and cats over the years including her cats, Cassie and Casper and very much enjoyed riding horses. Mabel fought breast cancer for the last nine years. She and her family would like to thank MidState Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided her over the past several years. Mabel is survived by a daughter and her husband, Robin and Sal Zenobi of West Haven, CT, a son, Peter Kokoszka of Hyannis, MA, a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and John Carpenter of Meriden as well as many, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Deborah Kokoszka. Mabel's funeral will take place on Friday, February 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the BEECHER & BENNETT - FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, West Main St., Meriden. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Mabel's memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy, Ste.250, Dallas, TX 75244 or to MidState Medical Cancer Center, 435 Lewis Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a wonderful, kind lady. Mabel became such a close friend of mine while doing her hair for the past 13 years. She was always happy and proud of her children Robin and Peter. My deepest sympathy to her sister Audre and all the family. Kathy Nagel
