Marcia Forbes Leake, 96, of Guilford, formerly of Orange and West Haven, passed away at home on December 29, 2018. She was born in New Haven on November 8, 1922 to the late Ernest and Mary Torello Forbes. She is survived by her daughters Nancy Leake and Susan Lender, son Jeffrey Leake and his wife Catherine, grandchildren Kristen Montanez and her husband Joseph, Stephanie Davis and her husband Steve, and Jessica Kingsbury and her husband Dan, great-grandchildren Ariana, Kiara, and Kyla Montanez, Ryan and Sophia Davis, and Asa Kingsbury. She is predeceased by her late husband Charles 'Bud' Leake, brother Martin Forbes and friend and companion Warren Howe. After graduating from West Haven High School, she married Charles 'Bud' Leake and worked for United Illuminating Co. for several years until deciding to stay home and raise her three children. Marcia then went back to school to become a licensed practical nurse and went on to work for Yale-New Haven Hospital for several years until her retirement. Music was a very important part of Marcia's life, as she loved singing, and was a member of the choir at Christ Church in West Haven, and then Church of the Good Shepherd in Orange. Above all else she enjoyed her special visits from her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A funeral service celebrating Marcia's life will be held on Friday, January 4 at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 680 Racebrook Rd., Orange. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd. Newington, CT 06111.

  1. I will forever remember my Aunt Marsha’s beautiful voice, she and my dad sang .Take All of Me. they sang a duet on my deck at the cottage. I will think of her every time I hear that song. I am sure they are all harmonizing in heaven.

  2. My grandma was the absolute best!!Anytime I ever needed anything she was always there with a smile on her face and was the best great grandma to my kids in every way possible!!She will always be in my heart and never forgotten!! I love you gram!!!!
