Nicholas C. “Nick” DeCerbo, age 100, passed away on October 2, 2024. Born in Hamden on March 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Carlo and Mary (Tausta) DeCerbo. Nick is survived by his wife of 78 years, Andree L. (Fasquelle) DeCerbo, whom he met in France during his service to our country in the Army during WWII. He also is survived by his daughter, Sylviane Cresman and her husband Mark of Wallingford; his son, Karl DeCerbo and his wife Patricia of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Rebecca Cresman, Jessica Shincovitch, Rachael Doyle, and Joshua DeCerbo, and 8 great-grandchildren. Nick was predeceased by his sister, Emma Vitali. A resident of Wallingford most of his life, he and Andree recently moved to Hamden in 2023. Nick was a machinist retired from High Standard Manufacturing. He was a former Pack Master of the Boy Scouts, a former Sargent General and former Commander of the Hamden-North Haven AMVETS Post #9, and a 4th degree member of the Wallingford Knights of Columbus. Nick also volunteered for many years at the West Haven Veterans Medical Center.
Friends may attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Road, Wallingford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Wallingford. In honor of Nick contributions in his memory may be made to – AMVETS Post #9, 403 Morse St., Hamden, CT 06517.   1. Nick was my sister’s father in law. He was probably more like a father to her as our father died young. He was a great guy that you just couldn’t help but like. He had a great sense of humor and made everyone feel comfortable. His 78 year marriage to Andre was truly remarkable. He will definitely be missed by all.
