Patrick J. Devaney, Jr.
Patrick J. Devaney Jr., 59, of Hamden, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on October 11, 2017. He was born in New Haven on July 28, 1958 son of Patrick and Mae Doyle Devaney. Patrick was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his daughter Meredith Mae Devaney (Gregory Wagner); his pride and joy, granddaughter, Danika Mae Wagner; siblings John Devaney (Bina), Ellen Pellegrino (Vincent Riccio), Edward Devaney (Paula), and Robert Devaney (Evelyn). Patrick is also survived by seven nephews and three great nieces. Known for his adventure seeking personality, he was nicknamed “Wildman” Devaney while road racing with AAMRR. During that time Patrick worked at Willows Kawasaki and New Haven Suzuki. From 1987 to 2017 Patrick was a prideful Journeyman Ironworker with Local 424, contributing to many bridges and buildings across the state. Relatives and friends may visit with Patrick’s family on Sunday, October 15 from 3:00 to 7:00pm at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Patrick’s funeral service will begin on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 9:00am from Beecher & Bennett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am in St. Rita Church, Hamden. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Memorial donations in Patrick’s name may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
