Phyllis M. Timm, 94, a lifelong Meriden resident and loving wife of 70 years to the late Frederick Timm, Sr., passed away on December 26, 2021. She was born in Meriden on April 13, 1927 and attended local schools, graduating from Meriden HS Class of ’45. She is survived by her children; Elaine James of Portland, Fred Timm, Jr. of Southington, Charlotte (Joseph) Begnal of Ft. Worth, TX, Jesse (Donna) Timm of Meriden, and Madeline Timm of Ft. Worth, TX, daughter-in-law Mary Beth Timm of Bristol, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children, Marion and John Timm, her mother, Evelyn Brown, brothers; Warren Washington, Edwin Naamon, and Donald Brown, and her aunt and uncle who raised her, Jesse and Florence Trahant.
Phyllis was an occupational therapist for the Easter Seals in Hartford for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Meriden, serving in a multitude of positions. She and her husband Fred were co-founders of the Midstate ARC, formerly known as the Meriden-Wallingford Society for the Handicapped. Phyllis was a regular attendee at the Meriden Senior Center, enjoying the activities and friendships. She was also a longtime member of Zonta International, traveling the country and the world attending conferences representing the organization.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Thursday, January 6th from 4-7 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 159 E. Main St., Meriden. A service celebrating her life will be held in the church on Friday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. Please meet directly at church. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Masks and social distancing policies will be observed at all services. Memorial contributions in Phyllis’s name may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
