Robert “Bob” Fiedler, 86, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023, at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Fiedler for 62 years, who passed away in 2019. Bob was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 12, 1936, son of the late Richard and Jennie Drost Fiedler, and grew up in Wisconsin before moving to Hamden in 1962. Bob worked for Johnson Controls, was the proprietor of East Rock Package in Hamden, and worked at various jobs until his retirement. He enjoyed attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Most importantly, Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be remembered most for raising a beautiful family.

He is survived by his children, Kathy Morgillo (Mike), Karen Fiedler (Bobby), Steven Fiedler (Lisa), Sue Sussman (Bob), David Fiedler (Val), and Michael Fiedler (Lauren); grandchildren, Michael Morgillo (Sara), Jessica Morgillo (Tom), Amanda Morgillo, Carleigh Sussman, Gabby Fiedler, Thomas Fiedler, and Tim Fiedler; and brother-in-law, Joe Czech.

Friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, on Monday, May 8th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00. Burial will take place in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/ct.

I have vivid memories of “Mr Fiedler” growing up – whether it be from Bassett Field, the store or just bumping into him in around town over the years . He (and your Mom) were just another set of special parental eyes watching over me and my brothers during our formative years 😉. They left an indelible mark.
