Ronald Keith Brooks

June 1, 1955 ~ June 1, 2023
Born in:
New Haven, CT
Resided in:
East Haven, CT
RONALD KEITH BROOKS came into this world on June 1, 1955, and was called home by the Lord on his 68th Birthday, June 1, 2023. He was the fifth child born to the union of the late Freeman Brooks, Sr. and Ruth Anderson Brooks in New Haven, CT. Those who were a part of his life are his son Ronald Little and daughter Ebonee Little from a previous relationship with the late Debra Little, daughter Shauna Brooks from a previous union to Yvonne Barros-Brooks, and stepsons Adriel Highsmith and Byron Reaves from a previous union to Crystal Highsmith–Brooks; siblings Marie Brooks-Moorning, Roy L. Brooks, Esq. (Rosa), Ruth Brooks-Douglas (Ronald), Julia Brooks-Moore, Denise Brooks-Kelly (Bruce); 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins who all loved him and will forever cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by brothers Freeman Brooks, Jr. and Donald Brooks.
He will also be missed by his lifelong friends Bobby Durham, Russell Douglas, and Carl Hannans.
Ronald was educated within the New Haven school systems. He furthered his education at Springfield College in Mass., receiving his BS in Human Services.
Ronald was employed with the State of CT in various departments and positions, including DDS support staff, CT Mental Health Act Team, Social Worker, CT Mental Health CNRU and CVH Mental Health Supervisor Worker, from which he retired after more than 30 years. He often spoke of his coworkers Ted Hart and Robert Alves as inspiring team players that he had a relationship of brotherhood and comradeship.
Ronald loved shopping for clothes, driving his car, listening to music, spending time at the casino, spending time with his family and eating hamburgers. He had a particular style of dress, so he and only he could pick out his clothes. He would spend many hours in clothing stores shopping and did not mind returning items if he decided against the style.
Ronald would often take long drives and listen to his music on his car CD player. Although he loved spending time with family, he would be the last person to show up for a family event, eat his food, and then get a plate to go and be the first person to leave the event. Ronald had a great sense of humor. He had a contagious laugh and always like to laugh and joke about life’s ups and downs- mostly laughing at his own situations.
Ronald was celebrating his birthday, enjoying one of his favorite pastimes at the casino and eating with his youngest sister Denise when God called him home. God gave Ronald life and called him home on the same month and day, 68 years later.
Ronald knew the Lord and spent time every day in the word. God gave Ronald a Blessed Birthday Gift. He called him home out of a world of sickness and pain and gave him his wings.
RONALD WAS LOVED.
IS LOVED.
AND WILL ALWAYS BE
LOVED AND MISSED.
