Ruben Ramos

MERIDEN - Ruben Ramos, 57, of 71 Catlin St. died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at his residence. He was the husband of Gloria Werpechowski Ramos. Born in the Bronx, NY on Sept. 8, 1949, he was the son of Laura Garcia Ramos of Meriden and the late Manuel Ramos. He was an Eagle Scout and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He was a graduate of Teikyo Post College in Waterbury and worked as a computer technician for IBM for twenty-eight years. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Club at the American Legion in Wallingford. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Brandie Hasabella and Ashley Ramos, both of Meriden; four brothers, Roberto Ramos of Meriden, Jose Ramos of Aquada, P.R., Inocensio Ramos and William Ramos, both of Meriden; three sisters, Laura "Maria" Rojas, Rosa Ramos and Brunilda Gomez, all of Meriden; seven grandchildren, Samantha Ramos, Manuel Ramos, Codie Ramos, Collin Ramos, Chaize Ramos, Derek Fluker and Quincy Fluker, all of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Carmen Lydia Ramos. The funeral will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Will Marotti will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. If desired, contributions in Ruben's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Almost 30 years ago when I started my first day at IBM, one of the first people I met was Ruben. We worked together in Farmington and Hamden over the next 15 or so years. Ruben was one of the kindest persons I met at IBM. When the PC first arived, Ruben was the one who seemed to know the most about this new gadget and eventually made the switch from an administrative job to the technical support job that he loved. He was ahead of his time back then. I haven’t seen or talked with Ruben over the past few years but I will always remember him. My sincere condolences to Gloria, Brandie, Ashley and all his family.
Can’t believe it’s been a month since you left us. I miss you so much Dad & there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about you. I love you so much 🙁
Daddy, I miss you so much. The Lord needed you earlier than we expected. I’m sorry I never seen you as much I would have liked. I’m sad that youll never get to walk me down the isle or see me graduate or be there for Quincy’s 1st Birthday. I wish I could just have one more day with you. Dear Ruben’s family and friends, my deepest sympathies are with you. You and Ruben are in my thoughts and prayers. Ruben and I were introduced when I started working at IBM. Ruben was always happy and very friendly; he was always very kind and warm. He enjoyed the challenges and the comradery of the job. We had many a cup of coffee together, and I remember he loved his family very much and had a passion for radio. Once you met him you would never forget him. He will be missed by all.
Even though We never meet in person Ruben was like a Big brother and a protector. a one person i could call any time and confide to him about anything about anything. He will be missed by so many people not only by ones that knew Him in person but there are so many that He meet online. I met Ruben online over a year ago ,in those times we became close he is the most caring,loving and wonderful man there is .We spoke many time via pc and phone .I will miss you Ruben my heart feels such a loss I love you always.. my prayers and love go out to his family i know he loved them dearly .I miss you more then words can say ..love always Nicole
I only knew Ruben from talking online, but over the past year and a half that I had come to know him , he had become a very dear friend, he was one of the most giving, willing always to offer help to people that I have ever known. He always had a kind word and a sympathic ear to lend and listen to others problems. We shared many a chat online over coffee in the mornings, Ruben was a true friend. My heart goes out to his family,He was a proud father and grandfather and loved his children and grandchildren deeply….He will be sadly missed by many who had come to know him.

I worked with Ruben at the I.B.M Hamden office,and became friends almost instantly. He always had a kind word to say about everyone. I remember talking about our kids. Ruben loved you all, I am sorry for your loss. He is in my thoughts and prayers.
I worked with Ruben for a few years out of the Waterbury area and he has always remained in my heart. He was a very kind and helpful person and loved his family dearly.. I know he will be sadly missed by those who knew him. My heart goes out to his family.

It Was Good to Have Known Ruban, I Role played With Him And Had Just Sat And spoke with Him. When there Was times , I Just couldnt Figure Something out He helped the best He could And Always Advised Well He will Be Missed By Many

Ruben was one of the dearest men I have ever known. Always there with a kind word or a piece of encouragement, I knew I could always count on him to make me smile. His loss is such a shock but I know he lived a full life in the time allowed. He loved and was loved by so many. My deepest condolences to his family and those who will miss him as I do and will.

What to say at this time of loss~ Ruben was and is a very special person in my life. We met online while I was in Texas a couple years ago. I then moved back to the east coast to be close to my best friend who lost her husband to cancer. During this time,Ruben and I met and spent a couple wonderful times together. He isa very great friend and my memories are cherished ones that I will hold close to my heart forever.
