Sara Ann Kennedy
December 26, 1990 ~ March 12, 2023
Born in:
New Haven, CT
Resided in:
Hamden, CT
Sara Ann Kennedy, 32, of Hamden passed away unexpectedly at home on March 12, 2023. Sara was the beloved and cherished daughter of Michael and Frances (DeRose) Kennedy. She was the epitome of sweet and gentle beauty, never without a smile, unequivocal kindness, or perfect makeup. She will be forever cherished and deeply missed by her family and friends. Sara worked at Management Vision in Manhattan for 10 years as an executive assistant. She was also a hostess at Wood-n-Tap in Hamden, and will be missed by the friends she so quickly and easily made there. Sara graduated from St. Rita School and then Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden in 2009 and went on to study photography at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Sara shared a love of photography with her dad, as well as the hikes they would go on together along the many trails throughout CT. She was the apple of his eye and his “bestest buddy.” Sara and her mom were best friends, something every mother wishes for but only few are gifted with. Her mother adored her from the moment she came into the world, and she truly was her whole world. Sara had a love and passion for all things NYC, art, fashion, good food, music, the San Francisco Giants, and travel, and took many cruises with family and friends. She always enjoyed her “girls nights,” family holidays and vacations in Maine, Quebec, and the Jersey Shore.
Sara was predeceased by her grandparents, Ralph and Amelia (Velleca) DeRose and James and Dolores Kennedy, and her uncle James Kennedy. Besides her parents, Sara leaves behind her uncle, Pat DeRose, who was her sidekick and travel companion, her biggest fan and confidant, her uncle Joe Kennedy and his wife Roseanne, her aunts Dolores Kennedy and Kathy Kennedy, her precious adored cat Flower Pot, her fiancé Ashley Calise and her dog Tiny, her bestie of 32 years Amanda Jennings, and her many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.
Friends may visit with her family at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Sunday, March 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to her Prayer Service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private. Meeting Sara for the first time was after she and my daughter Ashley became engaged. Sara’s charm was one of her special traits. Sara’s & Ashley’s adventures whether it was hiking, experiencing a cruise, enjoying the sights of Bermuda or cheers to their first apartment together was just the beginning. Ashley will honor these memories that will last forever. Of course Sara’s passing is very sad but smile, be happy you experienced the Sara CHARM!
Fran, Mike and Ashley we send our prayers and love.

Fran, Mike & Pat,
I am so so sorry; words are totally inadequate.
“This body is not me.
I am not limited by this body.
I am life without boundaries.
I have never been born,
and I have never died.
Look at the ocean and the sky filled with stars,
manifestations from my wondrous true mind.
Since before time, I have been free.
Birth and death are only doors through which we pass,
sacred thresholds on our journey.”
