Virginia M. 'Jean' Courtney, 84, of Hamden, passed away on February 24, 2011. She was born in New Haven on February 14, 1927 to the late Stephen and Ellen Curran Courtney. Virginia leaves her sisters, Eileen Tozzo & her husband Donald & Kathleen Page all of Hamden and Theresa 'Terri' White & her husband Paul of Northford; eleven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Stephen, Donald, and John Courtney and brother-in-law, Kenneth Page. Virginia grew up in the Newhallville section of New Haven before moving to Hamden in 1986. She worked for G&O Manufacturing for 47 years as a time clerk. Some of her favorite past times had been bowling and bingo. She always enjoyed the company of her friends at Davenport. Virginia's family and friends will miss her quiet but funny personality. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 1st at 10 a.m. followed by a burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
