Mildred (Sis) Schlesinger, of Cheshire, formerly of North Haven, passed away on March 27, 2025 at the age of 102. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ to the late John and Mildred Ashmead, and grew up in Windsor, CT. Sis attended Mt. St Joseph Academy in West Hartford, graduated from Westbrook College in Portland, ME, and worked as a medical secretary. She was also a member of the Red Cross Motor Corp during the war.
An active member of the Altar Guild of Trinity Church on the Green for years, she also acted as secretary of her Westbrook College class reunions. A Master Judge of the Federation of Garden Clubs of Connecticut, she was a Past President of the Spring Glen Garden Club.
Sis enjoyed bowling at the High Lane Club, golfing at the New Haven Country Club, and showing her prize-winning Schnauzers at AKC shows. She became an avid fan of the Yankees and UConn Women’s basketball.
Her travels included trips to Japan and Europe, as well as golfing in Scotland, the Caribbean, and along the east coast.
She was predeceased by her husband of sixty-eight years, Irving, and leaves her sons, John of Dallas, TX, and Peter (Valerie) of Cheshire, and daughter, Ruth (Stearns) Bryant of North Haven. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the love and support of the Elim Park family, and her Visiting Angel Nancy.
