Born in: Derby, CT
Resided in: Hamden, CT

Thomas Harry Pregman, 80, of Hamden, CT passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026 at Griffin Hospital, after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Arlene Grele Pregman for 56 years. He was the son of the late Harry and Jean Pregman of Seymour.

Thomas graduated from Seymour High School in 1963. He earned a B.S. degree from the University of Connecticut in 1968. He started his professional career with the State Health Department in Hartford. When the DEP was formed, Tom started working there as an inspector in the Solid Waste Enforcement section, retiring as a senior environmental analyst and supervisor.

Tom had a passion for lighthouses-collecting Harbor Lights, traveling to and climbing them on vacations, and raising funds to preserve them through various organizations. Travels to Maine, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket filled his retirement days. He was a New Englander at heart and could never pass up a hot, buttered lobster roll or a 2-lb. lobster.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Paul Pregman of North Carolina, two nephews, Jeffrey Pregman of Virginia and Douglas Pregman (Allison) of Newtown, CT, a niece, Melissa Okpokwasili (Nkem) of Virginia, and several great-nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to New England Lighthouse Lovers (NELL), c/o Arlene Winkleman, 99 Marion St. #1, Brookline, MA 02446, or the American Lighthouse Foundation (ALF), P.O. Box 565, Rockland, ME 04841.
