Arline Durkin Roche

Arline Durkin Roche, age 92, of West Palm Beach FL, entered into rest on December 25, 2025, after a long illness. She was a North Haven resident for almost 60 years. The devoted wife of the late Noel Vincent Roche for 50 years until his passing in 2006. Arline was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Josephine Lynch Durkin and Cyril Durkin.

Arline grew up on her family’s farm in Cheshire, until moving to Hamden in her teenage years. She graduated from Hamden High School. Arline worked in banking for many years before her retirement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed art, history, opera, furniture refinishing, decorating, nature and bird watching.

She was the beloved mother of Daniel Roche of North Haven, Michael Roche and his wife, Sarah, of Higganum, Kathleen Roche Petry and her husband, Leo, of North Haven, and Bernadette Haughn and her husband, Daryl, of Lake Worth, Florida. Arline also leaves her six cherished grandchildren, Christina Roche, Erin Marciniak, Samuel Petry, Rachel Petry, Sarah Haughn, and Robert Haughn, and her four great-grandchildren, Julia Wermuth, Tanner Miller, Matthew Marciniak, and Madison Marciniak. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Durkin, and her sisters, Carol Oesterlin and Louise Rudnicki.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home of Hamden. Family and friends are invited to visit with Arline’s family on Saturday, January 24^th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. Interment in North Haven Center Cemetery will be private.
