Auria Violeta Galarza, age 85, of Meriden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026.
She was born on August 24, 1940, in Guayaquil, Ecuador to the late Gilberto and Zulima Elizalde Santillan.
Auria was a kind and thoughtful woman who always put family first. Her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Auria found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing Pokeno, spending time at the casino playing slots, enjoying beach days with her family, watching her novelas, crocheting, and working on puzzles. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life and guided her values and compassion for others.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Luis Galarza and Luis Gilberto Galarza Jr.; her daughter, Mariana Rocio Mendez; her sisters, Nelly Velez, Miriam Villao, Lidia Mogollon, and Lupe Mogollon; her brothers, Alberto Mogollon, Ricardo Mogollon, Nelson Mogollon and Antonio Mogollon; four grandsons and two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elsade Benavides and Aracelly Mogollon; her daughter, Rocio Galarza; and her grandson, Luis Isaac Galarza III.
Auria will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Wednesday, January 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave, Meriden.
