We celebrate the life of Constance “Connie” T. Lane, who died peacefully on June 7, 2025, in Wallingford, Connecticut, in the compassionate hands the of Masonicare Health Center and Hospice.
Connie was born on May 30, 1941, in Auburn, New York. She was the middle daughter of Rev. C. Phillip and Louise Torrance. Connie was a graduate of Syracuse University School of Nursing, where she met her future husband. She started her nursing career in Boston, MA and later retired from Franklin County Home Health in St. Albans, VT, where she provided comfort and support to countless patients. In addition to her work with patients and their families, she was also called upon to lead and train colleagues with her seasoned skills in the art of nursing and caregiving. It was hard to find a road or street in the county where she hadn’t cared for someone. Her commitment to her community extended far beyond her professional life. She was a dedicated volunteer and board member at Martha’s Community Kitchen, joyfully serving the community’s most in need of a fresh and healthy meal, even during the pandemic. Equally important to Connie, she was an active and sustaining member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church community for the 33 years she lived in St. Albans, singing in the choir and lending a hand whenever needed. In 2024, Connie relocated to Hamden, Connecticut, where she spent her time with family and new friends.
She was the wife of the late Rev. Oren J. Lane, and is survived by her two sons, Stephen Lane of Winooski, Vermont, and David Lane and beloved daughter-in-law Amy Lane of Hamden, Connecticut, and their respective children. She also leaves behind her sisters, June Torrance and Anne Torrance Bachmann and her husband Richard, as well as her nieces Leslie Bens, Beth Ellsworth, Rebecca Wirth, and nephew Christopher Wirth, along with each of their spouses and families.
Connie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit touched many lives, leaving an indelible mark on her family, friends, and community.
Connie’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 3pm at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in St. Albans, VT. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. All those in attendance are encouraged in Connie’s spirit to wear their most fun shoes or vibrant colors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Connie’s memory to Martha’s Community Kitchen at https://marthascommunitykitchen802.org/donations.
