Horacio Mercado, Jr., age 66, of Meriden, passed away on March 11, 2026 at MidState Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born in Meriden on February 6, 1960, he was a son of Rosa Perez Mercado of Meriden and the late Horacio Mercado. He is survived by his wife, Judith Luna-Mercado; his son, Jean Carlos Mercado of Kentucky; his daughter, Jazmin Luna of Cheshire; his grandson, Dominic Melillo; his sister, Rosa Rentas and her husband Angel of Meriden, nephew Alec Rentas, and niece Coralyn Rentas; his brother, Heriberto Mercado and his wife Rosa Ramos Mercado of AZ, and his nephew Stefen Mercado, also of AZ. Horacio was a resident of Meriden for most of his life. He worked for UNICORR for many years as a forklift operator. Horacio was a man who always enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his pride and joy, his son JC. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.
Friends may attend Horacio’s Memorial Service on Friday, March 20th at 1:00 p.m. in the Hubbard Memorial Chapel at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd., Meriden followed by burial with Military Honors. To send condolences to his family, please see obituary at www.beecherandbennett.com.
