Jeanne Ruth Dingle Emerson, age 81, of Hamden, Connecticut passed away at her home on June 9, 2025. Born in New Haven, Connecticut on January 18, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Albert Tuttle Dingle and Hazel Rapson Dingle. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Forrest Kingsley Emerson, Jr.; her sons, Forrest Kingsley Emerson III and his wife, Christy, of Moore, South Carolina; Kevin Bryan Freeman Emerson and his wife, Stacy, of West Hartford, Connecticut; and her daughter, Jocelyn Anne Emerson, of Denver Colorado; her grandchildren, Caroline, William, John, Samuel and Katelynn Emerson, and her brother, Albert Henry Dingle and his wife, Lydia, of Vernon, Connecticut.

Jeanne was a graduate of Eastern Baptist College, now Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. She was a teacher; a former member of the Plattsburgh Interfaith Food Pantry in Plattsburgh, New York; a former Chair of the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut’s Camp Wightman Committee; and a member of the First Baptist Church of New Haven where she served as office administrator for twenty years.

During her husband’s ministry in the American Baptist Churches USA, Jeanne served alongside her husband at First Baptist Church of Gloucester City, New Jersey; First Baptist Community Church of Parsippany, New Jersey; First Baptist Church of Arlington, Massachusetts; Union Evangelical Church of Stow, Massachusetts; Calvary Baptist Church of Torrington, Connecticut; First Baptist Church of Plattsburgh, New York; and Lansdowne Baptist Church, Pennsylvania. Jeanne enjoyed traveling and visiting with her friends and family, and most of all she cherished her role as mother and grandmother.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of West Hartford, 90 North Main Street, West Hartford, Connecticut 06107. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeanne’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church in New Haven at 205 Edwards Street, New Haven, Connecticut 06511 or to Camp Wightman at 207 Coal Pit Hill Road, Griswold, Connecticut 06351.
