Resided in: Tucson, AZ

Joan Quirk, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, on July 22, 2025. Born in Port Jefferson, New York, on April 10, 194–, Joan lived a life marked by faith, love, and generosity. She loved the Lord and was ready to go home to Him.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, David Quirk, with whom she shared many cherished years. She is survived by her children: Richard Quirk (wife Julie), Peter Quirk (wife Diana), Laura Payton (husband Craig), and Andrew Quirk (wife Hey-Sook). She was a proud grandmother to Elisa and Payton Quirk (with their mother Joyce of Wisconsin), Brennan, Kaitlyn, and Travis Quirk of Oklahoma, Emily and Troy Payton of Connecticut, and Ethan, Olivia, and Aiden Quirk of South Korea.

For more than 30 years, Joan served as a compassionate nurse at Meriden Nursing Home in Connecticut. After David’s passing in 1998, she moved to Arizona, where she built a joyful life filled with fellowship and adventure. She loved having lunches with the Senior Saints from her church, dressing up with lighted necklaces and bunny ears for special occasions, and spending time with her best friend, Linda.

Joan embraced life with enthusiasm—whether attending “Black and Bling” lunches, enjoying Bonnie’s Bells and the Red Hat Society, or traveling to places she had long dreamed of visiting. She took a cruise to Alaska, explored Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, and even embarked on a two-week road trip to New York for her high school reunion.

She will be remembered for her warmth, humor, adventurous spirit, and unwavering faith.

A private family service will be held to honor her life.
