madeleine paul

November 26, 1945 ~ January 20, 2026

Born in: Fall River, Massachusetts
Resided in: Hamden, Connecticut

Madeleine Lilliane Paul passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving children. She was born on November 26, 1945, in Fall River, MA, to the late Norman and Irene Thibault Barrette.

She attended Bishop Stang High School and was a proud member of its first graduating class. Madeleine married and raised her two children in California before relocating to West Haven, where she made her home for more than 30 years. She had most recently resided in Hamden, where she made several friends and connections within her community. After retiring from the workforce, Madeleine devoted much of her time to caring for her grandchildren. Once they were grown, she continued to give selflessly by knitting blankets for patients at Smilow Cancer Hospital and hats for newborns at Yale New Haven Hospital, a labor of love she continued until her hands could no longer manage the work.

Madeleine will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Michelle Paul; her daughter, Michelle Spinelli; her cherished grandchildren, Joel, Tyler (Amanda), Joscelyn, Colben Spinelli and Gavin and Anna Paul; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Ariella and Elliott.

Friends are invited to visit with her family on Tuesday, January 27th, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Her funeral will continue in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in Centerville Cemetery. Donations in Madeleine’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. To leave a condolence for her family, see obituary at www.beecherandbennett.com.
