Richard A. Cofrancesco, beloved husband of Doreen Reynolds Cofrancesco of Woodbridge, passed away July 8, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in New Haven, a son of the late Albert and Josephine Martone Cofrancesco and was the owner and operator of Cofrancesco Painting Service for over 40 years with an extremely devoted clientele. He was an avid sports fan, especially the NY Yankees, UCONN Huskies Women’s Basketball and Notre Dame Football teams. He also enjoyed coaching Pop Warner football and women’s softball. In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving daughters, Sharon (Steve) Martone of North Branford and Kim (Phil) Winterson of Manhattan Beach, CA, also survived by 2 brothers, Albert (Phyllis) Cofrancesco of New Haven and Joseph (Deborah) Cofrancesco of Hamden. Loving grandfather of Isabella and Santino Martone and Natalia Winterson. Richard is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Henry Cofrancesco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd., Woodbridge on Sat., July 10 at 11:30 a.m. The communicant will be Doreen’s cousin, Monsignor Kevin Royal. Friends may visit with his family at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden Saturday morning from 8:30 – 11 a.m. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Richie’s honor to the Father McGivney Cancer Center, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511 or to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
