Marilyn M. Neun Hoff

April 21, 1932 ~ August 5, 2023
Born in:
Meriden, CT
Resided in:
Cape Coral, FL
Marilyn Marie (Neun) Hoff, 91, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Meriden and Middletown, CT, loving wife of Howard Walter Hoff, passed away on August 5, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Meriden on April 21, 1932, a daughter of the late Herman and Frieda (Hass) Neun. Besides her husband Howard, Marilyn leaves her daughters, Joyce Amann (Stephen) and Janice Hoff (Mark), her sons, Howard Jr. (Linda), Mark (Gina), Eric (Gail), and Christopher (Erin), her grandchildren, Nick (Brianna), Matt (Megan), Boomer (Cara), Lisa (Josh), Cassidy (Gavin), and Sam (Natalie), Rhea, Avery and Caleb Hoff, and her great-grandchildren, Levi and Cole Doughty. Marilyn was a life-long parishioner of St. John Lutheran Church in Meriden.
The family will forever be grateful to the 3rd floor team at Midstate Medical Center. They welcomed The Hoff Family (and all that that entails). During Mom’s 4-day stay, Dad was somehow elected union steward…Good luck to management.
Mom’s greatest joy was her family. Her favorite child was Liezal, her loyal German Shepherd dog. Mom was a prolific knitter, even winning awards. She especially enjoyed knitting while watching her beloved Red Sox beat that pinstriped team. Many claim to have seen sparks fly from the knitting needles during close games. Hammonasset was her favorite place, having camped there since she was a child. She passed that love on to three generations. Mom was an expert at stretching meals for a family of eight. A family favorite was her clam chowder. We never knew who would be lucky enough to get the clam. Mom asked that we not let Dad’s 95 birthday pass by on August 15th, and that we take good care of him. We got this, Mom!
A funeral service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450. Friends may visit with her family from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before the service. Interment will be held in Gethsemane Cemetery, Meriden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.

My condolences to Joyce, Janice and family for your loss.
Aunti Marilyn will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her… My heart goes out to the whole family. There really are no words to describe the loss of someone who was so greatly loved, there is only an empty place in our hearts that lasts forever. May your family find comfort in knowing she is with our creator who loves her beyond our imagination.
