Born in: New Haven, Connecticut
Resided in: Hamden, Connecticut

Barry W. Braman, age 77, passed away on December 24, 2025, at the West Haven Veteran Medical Center, following a sudden and aggressive battle with lymphoma. Born in New Haven on January 31, 1948 he was the son of the late Gustave and Lois (Johnson) Braman. A resident of Hamden most of his life he was a proud United States Army veteran who served honorably during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Barry worked for nearly 30 years as an asbestos pipe insulator with Local 33 in Connecticut. He remained deeply committed to the veteran community, volunteering with the VA and staying actively involved in local veterans’ organizations. His favorite veteran group, Take a Vet Fishing, perfectly combined his dedication to fellow veterans with one of his greatest joys, fishing.

Barry was an avid collector with wide-ranging interests. He had a particular passion for stained glass, and many family members and friends proudly display pieces of his artwork in their homes. He was also a talented professional photographer.

Affectionately known as the “cool uncle,” Barry delighted in spoiling his nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed taking them on special outings, often insisting they “pick out whatever they wanted,” creating cherished memories that will be fondly remembered.

Barry is survived by his sisters, Linda (William “Bud”) Anderson and Kathryn (Jack) Bovee all of Hamden; nieces Kristine Anderson and Jennifer Greenberg; nephews Bill Anderson and Benjamin Bovee and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with his family on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 12 noon at the State of Connecticut Veteran Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
