Adele Fogg

Adele Fogg, 93, of Meriden, loving wife of the late Kenneth W. Fogg, passed away on February 2, 2023. She was born in Werthenstein, Switzerland on August 9, 1929, a daughter of the late Johann and Liseli Soltermann Eichenberger.
For most of her early life, Adele lived with her family in the German speaking part of Switzerland in the village of Wolhusen. It was a simple yet loving upbringing, but there were difficult times, especially during World War II. Adele loved to hike and ski in the mountains she loved so much around Wolhusen.
Following high school, Adele completed an apprentice working in a boutique in Lucerne, Switzerland. Afterwards, as was the custom, she moved to the French part of Switzerland to work and learn the language. At nineteen Adele traveled to London, England to work as an au pair, where she learned to speak English. Her next adventure took her to Stamford, Connecticut where she worked for a family as a care giver.
While living in Stamford she would meet her future husband. Adele and Ken were married August 1, 1953 in Meriden at All Saints Church. They spent the next 59 years together in a loving relationship, building their home and raising a family. They loved traveling and took many trips together. Most of all they loved spending time on the coast of Maine, Aruba, and returning often to Adele’s beloved homeland of Switzerland.
Adele was an active member of her church, belonging to the altar guild and working on fundraising through the annual Christmas bazaar. She loved gardening and was an accomplished quilter. Her quilts were displayed at area exhibitions and won prizes at local fairs. Adele was an avid NASCAR and UCONN women’s basketball fan and loved following and rooting for the “girls.” She was a devoted dog lover, especially to her beloved Sandy, Vasti, and Abby.
Adele is survived by her sons, Gregory Fogg and his wife Donann of Plainfield and Jeffrey Fogg and his partner Elizabeth Randall of Farmington; and her brother Hans Eichenberger and his wife Erika of Crans, Switzerland. Besides her husband Kenneth, she was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Pizzinato, and her daughter-in-law, Jane Fogg.
The family would like to thank Adele’s friends and neighbors in Meriden for their love and support, especially in the years following Ken’s passing.
