Adele T. Nelson, 83, of Wallingford, wife of 54 years to James Warren Nelson, passed away on Jan. 9, 2008 at the Masonic Home. She was born on Nov. 3, 1924 in the Bronx, NY to the late Howard A. and Helen Moore Turner. Besides her husband, Adele leaves her two daughters, Julie Nelson of Hamden and Merrie Harrison of Madison, and three grandsons, Jared and Kyle Harrison and Hisho Uga. Adele graduated from Hunter College and then from Columbia Teachers College with her Masters. She lived in Orange for 40 years before moving to Wallingford in 1999. Before her retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Orange school system. Just as teaching came naturally to Adele, so did motherhood. Her daughters have fond memories of camping trips that continued even after they were out of the house. She had supported a number of youth groups in her church and amongst the community. Adele always made sure her daughters were active in different groups within the community and at home so they would become well rounded adults. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who had no end to what she would do for her family. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Jan. 14th at 2p.m. at the Masonic Home Chapel in Wallingford. BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave. in care of arrangements.
