adeline garstka
Adeline Garstka, lifelong resident of Meriden, wife of the late Walter Garstka, passed away suddenly 88 years after her birth on December 22, 2012. She was born in Meriden to the late John and Agusta Wollenberg Domen. Adeline is survived by her daughters, Karen Gianatti and her husband John of Meriden, Janet Garstka of Portland; sons, Michael Garstka and his wife Diane of Meriden, David Garstka of Killingworth; grandchildren, Brian & Daniel Gianatti and Joseph, Jamie, & Matthew Garstka. She was predeceased by her siblings, Martha Savina, Ruth Anderson, John Domen and Dorothy Puska. Adeline had greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to the horse race track in New York. When she wasn't working or taking care of her family, she enjoyed water aerobics, crossword puzzles and trips to the casino on her birthday. Adeline was a wonderful grandmother who supported her grandchildren in all their different activities. Whether it was a sporting event or a school concert, she was there. When she moved to The Village at Kensington Place three years ago, she quickly became a staple in their tight-knit family. Saying she was active in her new home would be an understatement. She was in the choir, helped with the craft fair, went on the field trips and attended daily fitness classes, to say a few. Her family would like to thank the staff and her friends at Kensington Place for the heartfelt care Adeline received while living there. Her family would also like to thank Dr. Taraskevich for the care he provided for so many years. Her Funeral Service will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, December 28th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit earlier in the morning at BEECHER & BENNETT- FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave, Meriden from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Contributions in Adeline's memory may be sent to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St, Meriden, CT 06541.
